Course content
1. Foreign fairy tale motifs in romantic adaptations. 2. Modern authors´ fairy tales (classic foreign fairy tales from the 19th century to present ? poetics of the genre, development, types) 3. Stories for children ? with a human/animal character. 4. Intentional LCHT with a male/female character. 5. Classic works of adventurous literature as a childrens´ / teenagers´ reading, intentional LCHT on adventurous topics. 6. Sci-fi literature as a LCHT, intentional sci-fi. 7. Fantasy. 8. Foreign legends and myths in adaptations for children and teenagers ? both Czech and foreign. 9. Comics. We will focus on the so-called big literatures: German, French, English and American, but also on Russian, Polish and Slovak. Modern authors´ fairy tales will be covered in more lectures, seminar topics will be identical. Seminar work will be based on text interpretation.

learning outcomes
Students are able to - explain the specific features of intentional literature for children (LCHT) - interpret different quality of the children´s aspect in older and modern literature - prove the knowledge of genre and content constants of foreign LCHT within the context of literary theory and literary history - produce a portfolio with records of the foreign LCHT texts they have read - interpret selected LCHT work in relation to the Czech reader (literary translation review)
