Course content
Concepts of Slavic studies. Slavonic linguistics. Slavonic languages and their relations to Indo-European languages. Pre-Slavic language and its dialectal varieties. Indo-European base of the Slavonic system of phonemes. Main development trends in the phonological system of the classical Pre-Slavic language. System of phonemes in the late Pre-Slavic language. Slavonic morphology - noun. Slavonic morphology - adjective. Slavonic morphology - pronoun. Slavonic morphology - verb. Slavonic lexicon. Main development trends in the newest period. Old Church Slavonic system of phonemes. Reading the Old Church Slavonic text. Morphology (nouns) - introduction, forming. Formal morphology. Vowel- and consonant stems. Old Church Slavonic pronouns. Old Church Slavonic adjectives. Old Church Slavonic conjugation - verb and verb form classification. Finite verb forms. Non-finite verb forms. Interpretation of the Old Church Slavonic text, problem-solving tasks.

Knowledge of the external history of the Czech language and the basic development trends in Czech from the Pre- Slavic beginning (at the level of the course VJ).The ability to interpret the text dated to the older period of the language development.

interpret the diachronic language phenomena in mother tongue using an analogy and comparison between Pre(Proto)-Slavic language and Czech
read with comprehension and interpret an Old Church Slavonic text writen in the Cyrillic alphabet
draw more general conclusions valid for the Slavonic language system from the interpretation of an Old Church Slavonic text
