Course content
1. Student requirements, basic terminology. 2. Everyday life (working hours, free time, food and drinks, telling time). 3. Working hours, work arrangements, leisure time (sports and hobbies). 4. Living standard in the Czech Republic (social guaranties, health care, living and housing). 5. Interpersonal relationships, family and its structure, relationships at work and in public. 6. Values, attitudes (property, confidence in institutions, customs etc.). 7. Ethnic minorities and religions in the Czech Republic, national identity, politics. 8. Art, the important personalities of classical music, visual art, literature and dramatic art. 9. Humour and its tradition in the Czech culture. 10. Nonverbal communication. 11. Giving and getting hospitality, rituals (wedding, birth of babies, school leaving etc.). 12. Intercultural skills and practical knowledge. Teacher as a culture bearer and provider, conflict situations, taboo topics. 13. Summarizing and evaluation of the course.

Knowledge
Very good knowledge of general current and historical facts concerning the Czech Republic and people.
learning outcomes
Students are able to - provide the foreign students (studying Czech) with relevant knowledge, skills and habits, - communicate with the various types of speakers and prevent conflict situations, - understand different national socio-cultural specifics (including problem areas, taboos etc.).
