Key learning outcomes
|
Graduates of the Occupational Therapy (OT) study programme exhibit advanced knowledge of medical fields as well as of social sciences; they make sense of research theories and concepts. They exhibit understanding of theoretical principles of OT methods and approaches that are based on theoretical models. They also possess knowledge necessary for research aiming to raise the quality of the care of clients and, within their field, they are capable of communicating in a foreign language on the B1 level. Graduates of the OT study programme acquire professional skills from the area of the support of health and well-being of clients by means of a meaningful activity; they are capable of performing an OT examination focused on the analysis of activities of the client, of evaluating the sensomotorics, mobility and locomotion and they are capable of performing a casual examination of cognitive functions in relation to the ADL analysis. They can reliably evaluate common everyday activities and assess the area of working and leisure activities in the context of physical and social environment. On the basis of an evaluation and examination, they are capable of analyzing the functional ability and the remaining working potential and of indicating specific OT procedures and methods. They make sense of the principles of prevention, they are capable of performing measures preventing the occurrence of complications and structural changes in immobile patients and they are capable of providing instructions concerning the issues of adaptation, compensation and substitution. They are capable of evaluating ergonomic measures within primary and secondary prevention, of evaluating the adjustments of home and working environment in relation to the functional abilities and the barriers of the environment. On the basis of a comprehensive analysis, they are capable of applying OT procedures in individual and group therapy. Graduates acquire professional qualification to perform an occupation of an occupational therapist pursuant to Decree 424/2004 Coll.

Profile of the programme
|
This study programme is designed as an occupational one. In addition to theoretical background (blocks of theoretical courses), it mainly provides skill-related courses/blocks of skill-related courses preparing the future graduate for employment in various areas/fields, such as Occupational Therapy.
