Key learning outcomes
|
Graduates of the Midwife study programme are equipped with advanced knowledge of all areas concerning the care of women not only during pregnancy, labour and puerperium, but also during the whole course of a woman's life in the areas of prevention, protection and health care. Graduates possess basic knowledge of the areas of medical law, legislation, ethics and sociology. They also possess knowledge necessary for research aiming to raise the quality of the care of clients and, within their field, they are capable of communicating in a foreign language on the B1 level. Graduates of the Midwife study programme possess practical skills in providing basic and specialized care of pregnant women, women in labour, puerperae and newborns and they are capable of participating in the care of women experiencing pathological pregnancy, labour or puerperium. They are capable of determining appropriate measures and of creating a plan of appropriate interventions and other measures necessary for satisfying the patients' needs arising in connection with pregnancy, labour or puerperium. Graduates of the Midwife study programme acquire qualification to provide health care in the field of midwifery, i.e. provision of necessary supervision, provision of care of and advice to women during pregnancy, labour and puerperium, provision of management of labour if physiological and provision of care of newborns. The care of women in the department of gynaecology is also included. Graduates are, in cooperation with a doctor, capable of participating in preventive, treatment, diagnostic, rehabilitative, urgent or dispensary care. According to applicable legislation of the Czech Republic, i.e. pursuant to Decree No. 424/2004 Coll., graduates of the Midwife study programme acquire professional qualification to perform a non-medical health service occupation and to perform activities related to the provision of health care in the area of disease prevention and the support and maintenance of health.

Profile of the programme
|
This study programme is designed as an occupational one. In addition to theoretical background (blocks of theoretical courses), it mainly provides skill-related courses/blocks of skill-related courses preparing the future graduate for employment in various areas/fields, such as Midwife.
