Key learning outcomes | The graduate from this study field will have knowledge of the most modern and most efficient methods of manufacturing and processing materials using forging, forming, mechanical/thermal treatments, welding, etc. The graduate will be familiar with research techniques and methods of evaluating physical, mechanical and structural properties of construction materials, including non-destructive diagnostics, which provide the basic information about the usefulness of a construction material for the manufacturer, designer and operator of the equipment. The graduate will have knowledge of the limiting conditions for failure of components including the evaluation of gradual degradation of material properties in long term operation with the aim of establishing the remaining operational life time of equipment. Special attention is given to new, advanced, non-traditional materials, nano materials and creation and properties of surface layers.
Specific admission requirements | Previous completion of technical-oriented Bachelor studies
Specific provisions for recognition of prior learning | General Rules for the Recognition of Previous Studies
Qualification requirements and regulations | 120 ECTS credits, Diploma Thesis, Final State Examination
